FAQ

Is the FAA able to regulate drones?

The FAA oversees all aspects regarding drone operations, including safety standards and certification requirements.

What laws apply to flying drones?

In the United States, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulates all aspects of drone operations. The FAA must issue a certificate before you can commercially operate a drone. You must then complete a course on piloting skills and pass an examination. Finally, you must pay a fee to the agency.

What US states have drones made legal?

It is legal to operate a drone as a hobby. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), has established guidelines that allow the use of small unmanned aircraft systems (UASs). Before they can be flown, these UASs need to be registered with FAA. Commercial operators can also fly these devices provided certain conditions are met by the FAA.

Do I need special training to fly a drone?

No, you don’t have to learn any special skills in order for your drone to fly. All you need is a remote control unit and some basic knowledge of flight mechanics.

What is the law regarding drones flying over private property

New rules have been issued by the FAA for commercial drone flying. These rules do not apply to UAVs under 55 pounds or flying at less than 400 feet above sea level. Commercial operators must register at the FAA and apply for a license. They will also require permission from local authorities to operate near airports and other restricted areas.

How To

Repairing a damaged motor on a drone

To repair a motor damaged, the first step is to identify which part is broken. To do this, remove the propeller and motor shaft. Next, remove all wires from the motor shaft and inspect the internal workings. If you notice something amiss, you'll know what part of your motor to fix.

If there is no damage to the motor, then you don't have to worry too much however if the motor looks like one of these images below, then you'll need to replace some components before you can fly again.

Imagine that the motor has become bent to the point it will not turn. You will need to bend it back into shape. To hold the engine, use a pair pliers or a vice grip. Once you've done this, make sure to check the motor thoroughly for signs of wear.

Once you are satisfied with everything, mount the propeller on the motor shaft. Reattach the wires. Now your drone is ready to fly!
